10 Tips for Flying with Kids with Travelstart

With the holidays just about done and dusted and everyone slowly returning back to work, most of us are still on the relaxed and over-indulgent train. So now is a great time to reflect on the holiday that just passed. What was your highlight? Did you travel anywhere this holiday? The only place we went was ‘Romania’ (Remain here). Corny joke, I know. But to be honest one of things I would of love to have done was book Flights to Cape Town.

Oh man that would of been lovely, but wasn’t an option this year and we just have to make do with what we have BUT we had a amazing holiday nonetheless. It always something that we can work towards in 2018! Goals baby!

I have been to Cape Town twice when I was still a teenager. I went to visit my aunts 2 years in a row and it was amazing! Loved the city! We went up Table Mountain and saw Penguins, but there is so much more to see and do and definitely something I want to do experience again with my own child.

So, onto the bucket list it goes. Another great experience is to fly in an aeroplane, I’m convinced by son will go nuts. He loves his Dusty Crop hopper plane and will probably think its the best thing since sliced bread ( and boy, does he love his bread)

Although I’ve only been on a plane a handful of times, it is definitely something I enjoyed, although its only been short distances. Flying long distance is not as glamours according to my wanderlust friends and family and flying with kids is a whole other ball game.

But our friends at Travelstart have 10 great tips to help with the journey.

For a mom that hasn’t flown with her child before (me! Me!), these are so helpful. I love the number 2 about preparing our kids. I often underestimate how much my almost 4 year old understands. Chatting to them about the trip ahead sounds like something I would of overlooked when trying to prepare for the flight!

Family trips across South African borders may be every parent’s dream, but the stress of flying with children can put some people off the idea of it all.

Here’s a few first hand experiences of parents that have flown with kids.

If you could travel anywhere in the world with your kids, where would you go? Mine is definitely Disneyland (Hahaha, that is a no brainer – I ain’t called the Disney mom for nothing!!!) but for now, there are always local flights and trips we can take… like Cheap Flights From Johannesburg To Cape Town from Travelstart.

One day is one day!

If you have traveled with your kids, I would love to hear from you. Comment below with where you went and how was your experience.

With Love,

  2. I’ve got to be honest, we’ve flown 4 times with our daughter since she was born (first time was just after 1 years old, and these are all fantastic tips!!

You highlighted your love of the preparation step, and I’ve got to say that that step is super important for literally EVERYTHING you do with your kids, in my opinion. One thing kids have trouble with usually are transitioning from one activity to the next, and even if you’re gentle about being up “okay it’s time to clean up no”, it can be shocking. If you prepare them that that time will be coming, you ease them more into that transition. I can’t stress enough about preparing them not only for the flight, but anything else that might be happening on the trip too! Thanks for the post!!
